Management:

Sp Sustanon is administered by deep intramuscular injection. The dose is determined individually depending on the indication and the patient’s response.

Medical action:

Sp Sustanon consists of three testosterone esters (propionate, phenylpropionate, isocaproate and decanoate).

Testosterone is the primary androgen hormone synthesized and released by the testes. It is responsible for the growth and development of male sex organs and secondary sexual characteristics (maturation of the prostate, seminal vesicles, penis and scrotum), male hair distribution (face, pubic, chest), development of laryngeal muscles and body fat distribution. It retains nitrogen, sodium, potassium and phosphorus, increases anabolism and reduces protein catabolism.

The early increase in serum testosterone during the prepubertal period causes stunted growth and epiphyseal closure. It stimulates the production of red blood cells and erythropoietin. The feedback mechanism inhibits the pituitary secretion of luteinizing hormone and the follicle, resulting in the suppression of spermatogenesis.

In women, Sustanon inhibits the pituitary gonadotrophic function, ovarian function, mammary glands, endometrial atrophy. Due to the antagonistic effect of estrogen, it is useful in the treatment of uterine myoma, endometriosis and breast cancer. It has a beneficial effect during the climacteric period.

Measures:

Patients with latent or overt heart failure, impaired renal function, hypertension, epilepsy, or migraine (or a history of these conditions) will be under constant surveillance because androgens can cause sodium and, in some cases, water retention. Liver function should be monitored during long-term treatment. In breast cancer patients, hypernephroma, lung cancer, bone metastases, calcium levels in blood and urine need to be controlled. In prepubescent adolescents, this medication should be given with caution to avoid growth arrest and early puberty.

Side effects:
